Description
Listeria Enrichment Broth is used for the selective enrichment and isolation of?Listeria?spp. This medium was developed for the recovery of?Listeria?monocytogenes?from cheeses and pasteurized milk. Peptones and Yeast Extract supply necessary growth nutrients such as amino acids, peptides, carbohydrates, and vitamins. Dextrose is an energy source for the bacteria. Sodium Chloride provides essential electrolytes and maintains osmotic equilibrium. Potassium Phosphate, Dibasic acts as a buffering agent. Selectivity for?Listeria?is accomplished by the addition of Cycloheximide, Nalidixic acid and Acriflavine. Subculturing of enrichment broth onto?Listeria?selective agar plates is recommended to increase isolation rates.
