Protease Inhibitors
When cells/tissues are undergoing lysis in the extraction process, the proteins in the sample become prone to degradation as a result of active endogenous proteases, yielding low yield and purity. In order to prevent this process of protein degradation, individual protease inhibitors or a mixture of protease inhibitors can be used to help preserve cellular protein by inhibiting the endogenous proteases present in the sample.
