Clostrisel Agar is a highly selective medium for the recovery of?Clostridium?spp?from clinical and other sources. The formulation is based on that of Tryptic Soy Broth with the addition of the reducing agents Sodium Thioglycollate and Sodium Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate to enable the growth of obligate anaerobes. The addition of Neomycine and Sodium Azide suppresses the growth of enteric bacteria,?Pseudomonas?spp.,?Proteus?spp., and most Gram-positive microorganisms (except?Enterococcus), thus increasing the selectivity of the medium. Agar is the gelifying agent.
