Ethyl Violet Azide (EVA) Broth is a liquid medium used for the detection of fecal?Enterococci?in water and other specimens. Sodium Azide and Ethyl Violet inhibit the growth of Gram-negative bacilli and Gram-positive spore-forming microorganisms. Casein Enzymatic Hydrolysate provides nitrogenous compounds. Dextrose is the fermentable carbohydrate. The reduced concentration of this carbohydrate, together with the presence of the dye, is very specific for?Enterococci.
