Church & Gilbert’s Hybridization Buffer

General Description

Church & Gilbert’s Buffer is very useful in the pre-hybridization and hybridization process of the immobilized RNA (Northern Blot), DNA (Southern Blot) to a sequence specific probe.

During pre-hybridization, the buffer blocks the free sites on the blot/membrane, then the hybridization step to the probe.

The buffer is very viscous, which makes it easier to handle.

It minimizes the bubbles, that would otherwise appear during hybridization when temperature is raised.
