Middlebrook 7H11 Agar Base is a solid medium recommended for the isolation and cultivation of?Mycobacterium?spp. Enzymatic Digest of Casein provides nitrogen, vitamins, and amino acids. Ammonium Sulfate, Sodium Citrate, Pyridoxine, Monosodium Glutamate, and Biotin supply growth factors. Magnesium Sulfate, Ferric Ammonium Citrate, Zinc Sulfate, and Copper Sulfate are sources of essential ions. Disodium Phosphate and Monopotassium Phosphate serve as pH buffers. Malachite Green inhibits contaminating organisms. Glycerol enhances the growth of?Mycobacterium?avium?and other?Mycobacterium?spp. Dextrose and Oleic Acid serve as carbon sources. Agar is the gelifying agent.?
