General Description
Yeast Extract is a complex hydrolysate from yeasts used as a nutrient source in various culture media. It provides nitrogenous compounds, carbon, sulfur, trace nutrients, B-complex vitamins, and other growth factors for microorganisms. It is a water soluble portion of autolyzed yeast with intact B-complex vitamins. Yeast extract is a mixture of amino acids, peptides, water soluble vitamins and carbohydrates and can be used as additive for culture media.
