Sorbitol Solution, 1M

Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol, which is metabolized in the human body and is produced by the reduction of glucose, changing the aldehyde group to an additional hydroxyl group. 1M Sorbitol Solution is extensively used in molecular biology. This solution is a sterile-filtered, pre-mixed solution.

1M Sorbitol Solution is commonly used in the biological research in washing the spheroplasts and in isoelectric focusing to minimize endo-osmotic flow in agarose gels. It is also used to induce osmotic stress, due to its hyperosmotic nature. The 1M Sorbitol Solution is store at room temperature (15-25 degrees C).
